You'll manage our cutting-edge prototyping facility where breakthrough robotic concepts move from ideation to reality, leveraging your expertise to rapidly iterate designs, conduct sophisticated testing protocols, and validate new robotic solutions. You'll push the boundaries of robotic manipulation, locomotion, and human-robot interaction to reshape how automation works at Amazon's scale.<br><br>Key job responsibilities<br><br><ul><li> Lead our advanced prototyping facility, overseeing the development of robotic end-effectors, manipulation systems, and complete workcells while managing multiple concurrent projects</li><li> Drive rapid prototyping initiatives from concept to validation, including quick iteration cycles, comprehensive testing frameworks, and integration testing of hardware/software systems</li><li> Manage day-to-day laboratory operations, maintaining advanced fabrication equipment (3D printers, CNC machines) and ensuring efficient workflow between design, prototyping, and testing phases</li><li> Develop and implement testing strategies, validation protocols, and data collection/analysis methods for evaluating prototype performance</li><li> Coordinate with engineering teams to optimize designs based on test results while maintaining detailed documentation of processes and results</li><li> Ensure safety compliance and manage lab protocols specific to robotics development</li><li> Direct the maintenance and optimization of laboratory equipment, including fabrication tools and testing apparatus<br><br></li></ul><strong>Basic Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> Bachelor's degree in robotics, mechanical/mechatronics engineering, systems engineering or related field</li><li> 6+ years experience in robotics development and prototyping</li><li> Proven expertise with rapid prototyping technologies and methodologies</li><li> Strong understanding of robotic systems, including mechanical, electrical, and control systems</li><li> Experience managing technical laboratories or prototyping facilities</li><li> Proficiency in CAD software and fabrication techniques<br><br></li></ul><strong>Preferred Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> Master's degree in robotics, mechanical/mechatronics engineering, systems engineering or related field</li><li> Experience in project management including resource planning, managing schedules, reporting project status and prioritizing tasks</li><li> Experience leading cross-functional teams to establish strong partnerships with demonstrable results</li><li> Experience with industrial robotics and automation systems</li><li> Expertise in robotic system integration and testing</li><li> Knowledge of sensing systems and computer vision</li><li> Experience with motion control and path planning</li><li> Familiarity with ROS (Robot Operating System)</li><li> Track record of successful prototype development</li><li> Experience with AI/ML integration in robotics<br><br></li></ul>Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.<br><br>Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. The base pay for this position ranges from $123,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,000/year in our highest geographic market.
